Posted on by in 2008

He’s been “hired, fired, lauded and vilified” and after President Amy Gutmann spoke, Mayor Michael Bloomberg addressed the class of 2008 in Penn’s rainy 252nd commencement ceremony.

In his speech, Mayor Bloomberg mentioned that he is surrounded by Penn alumni who work with him and then gave the class of 2008 “4 virtues to lead by” including the virtue of “independence”, “honesty”, “accountability” and “immigration”.

Check out the videos below to get the details about these “virtues” and…

  • what class Mayor Bloomberg wanted to get into but even Amy Gutmann didn’t have pull (hint here)
  • what upcoming film he was supposed to appear in but was on the cutting room floor (hint: “they wanted more sex and less city”)
  • what he threw into the crowd! (hint here)
