Penn Undergrads You Should Know About Vol. 3

[ssba]

William Trieger (C’15) is a Chicago native majoring in Cinema Studies with a minor in History. On campus he is very involved in his fraternity, Zeta Beta Tau. Willie is a Summer Intern at New Horizons Picture Corp in LA.

Why New Horizons Picture Corp?: I found it the most interesting internship offered through the Penn Cinema Studies program. I wanted to be in LA over the summer to work at an office that makes movies, so I definitely got my wish. On that note, I must mention my extraordinary gratitude to that program, especially to Nicola Gentili; through Penn Cinema Studies, I have had an amazing experience interning in Los Angeles.

Take Us Through A Normal Day: There really is no “standard’ day at New Horizons. Because of the relatively small office size (less than 10 full time employees), I have done many different tasks. Chiefly, I have covered scripts (which involves reading screenplays and writing summaries, comments, and recommendations), edited trailers and teasers for an upcoming film, and helped coordinate a PR campaign for said movie.

What’s Your Favorite Part?: My favorite aspect of my internship has been the hands-on element of working with footage from the film to create clips to be aired online and on TV. I’ve enjoyed editing since high school, so the opportunity to continue that at my internship has been fun, rewarding, and educational. I must also mention that it is very cool to work in the same office as legendary producer Roger Corman.

"Because of Penntertainment, I got scouted for Nickelodeon. I had such a great time talking with them. I may be a resource for a show on science, travel, geography, gender etc. Thanks for all you do. It really makes a difference."
