Caroline Yost (C’15) is a rising senior from Westport, CT majoring in English with Creative Writing. On campus Caroline is a member of Bloomers, Penn’s all-female musical sketch comedy troupe. This summer she is interning with writers David Stern and Stuart Gibbs through RealArts@Penn.
Why Stern and Gibbs?: I was interested in learning what it was like to work (and live) as a writer, especially in film and television. Collectively, David and Stuart have experience writing for pretty much every creative storytelling medium out there- film, television, theater and literature.
Take Us Through A Normal Day: Four days a week I intern with David in the writer’s room of a new Amazon original series, doing mostly administrative tasks. It’s nonetheless an awesome gig as I’m getting the chance to see first hand how a brand new television series comes to be. Stuart primarily works on his many series of middle-grade novels so we meet on Fridays to discuss his latest drafts.
What’s Your Favorite Part?: The days don’t really follow a formula, which allows me to avoid the typical mundanity of working life. This is probably the most attractive aspect of my job.
