Since the last time Chaz was featured on Penntertainment, he has begun focusing less on Vines and more on film. A few months ago, Chaz’s One Student video received attention from people around the nation as he tackled the topic of rape culture. Before undertaking this important subject, Chaz began working with 1 and 4 on campus and connecting with rape survivors to deepen his understanding of the subject. Chaz’s video was featured on Upworthy and Cosmopolitan within the first day of it’s release. The media acclaim continued as Huffington Post and Mic.com joined the list of media sources featuring his work. Yet, despite all of the online praise, Chaz’s most humbling moment was when a complete stranger connected with him on Instagram and shared her two-year struggle to express the problems of rape culture. She felt that Chaz’s video was able to explain her struggle in 5 minutes and has really made an important impact.

While Chaz loves joking around and making videos that make people laugh, he works hard to ensure that people learn from all of his personal work. He strives to make sure that this viewers have learned something or have changed in some way after viewing his films. In the future, Chaz hopes to direct and produce a full-length feature film. He is inspired by words, quotes, conversations, and his faith in Christ and uses them to generate ideas for his work. Chaz loves films because they allow the artists to portray a story that people can experience without altering it in any way. In his own words, “it’s your story and people listen.”

What People Are Saying

"Because of Penntertainment, I got scouted for Nickelodeon. I had such a great time talking with them. I may be a resource for a show on science, travel, geography, gender etc. Thanks for all you do. It really makes a difference."
