If you are a Bravo TV fan and watch the new hit show “Bethenny Getting Married?” you would have seen Penn alum Jake Spitz (C’96) appear now twice on the show with many more appearances to come.

…He’s actually the 3rd Penn alum to my knowledge that has been on a Bravo show.

On the show, Jake is Bethenny’s good friend. Having worked in PR for a number of years Jake tell sme that they me when Bethenny was featured on “Martha Stewart’s Apprentice”.

Per Jake,

“I had approached her to hire her on behalf of my client brands (everything from Casinos to high end kitchens) for personal appearances. We enjoyed our working relationship and friendship so much she asked me to join her in several scenes of Real Housewives of New York in Seasons 1 and 2. We focused on our business relationship, the “behind the scenes” of the celebrity management world. We filmed amazing projects from the opening of the 500million + Horeshoe Casino Opening to a philantropic event around the US Open where I paired Andy Roddick paired with Bethenny to bartend for charity before 100++ members of the press (and the camera crew)

All of these adventures deepened our friendship as we have spent lots of time travelling and hanging out.  For that reason, she asked me to shoot some scenes for “Bethenny Getting Married?” with her to just show our “normal interactions.”

Another interesting tidbit about Jake is that he is another Penn alum who changed careers and started his own company.

“I graduated Penn in 1996. Started my career in the mail room at William Morris in the agent training program…after several years ther, I moved to work in the public relations industry (more Penn alumni publicists HERE). I worked for several industry leaders (Bobby Zarem, Peggy Siegal) in the field before opening my own company Network PR in 1998.  Network PR had offices in New York, Los Angeles and Miami specializing in music labels, movie studios, internet, celebrity, lifestyle and luxury clients. (New Line, Bad Boy Records, Puffy, King of Swaziland, W Hotels, Royal Elastics, Courvoisier, Jive Records, Fine Line, Warner Brothers, and many more.)  I sold the agency to a large mid-west marketing agency after they went public in the early 2000’s. At that time my career shifted to focus on all angels of media and branding – product placement, branding, celebrity management, sponsorship integration, talent management/ booking etc…”

"Because of Penntertainment, I got scouted for Nickelodeon. I had such a great time talking with them. I may be a resource for a show on science, travel, geography, gender etc. Thanks for all you do. It really makes a difference."
