News of another Penn alum filmmaker who not only produced a hot film, but is now getting his MBA at Wharton….
Zach Miller (C’01, Writer and Guides Editor for 34th Street) produced the film The Messenger which stars Woody Harrelson, Samantha Morton and Ben Foster. The film revolves around a US Army officer assigned to casualty notification, considered one of the least desirable jobs in the military. The officer faces complex moral choices when he becomes involved with a soldier’s widow.
Zach’s film has been nominated for 2 Golden Satellite Awards, 4 Independent Spirit Awards and has received 3 National Board of Review Awards including Top 10 Films of the Year, Best Supporting Actor for Woody Harrelson and Best Debut for Director Oren Moverman.
How did Zach get his start as a producer?
Zach received an MFA from USC’s Peter Stark Producing Program. While there he met fellow classmate Ben Goldhirsh, with whom he co-founded Reason Pictures, which has since become GOOD Inc. The company has a print arm (GOOD Magazine) and an online arm (http://www.good.is/).
Zach is currently pursuing an MBA at Wharton.
