It amazes me what sort of talent is coming out of Penn. And I’m talking about the students that are actually still at Penn.

Grand prize winning app: MEEPME
Last weekend, ambitious Penn undergrad entrepreneurs came together to build mobile applications in the second semi-annual PennApps Hackathon sponsored by Google, Microsoft, Comcast Interactive Media, Andreessen Horowitz and First Round Capital.
After attending seminars on iPhone, Android, and SMS development, students formed groups and started coding for 48 straight hours.
And what could be more serendipitous than an app centered around anonymous flirting application for bars (I’m sure it would be great for THIS bar)?! Just ask the winning team MEEPME, comprised of Matt Newberg (W’11), Sam Oldak (ENG ‘11), Fred Wang (W’13), and Vincent Sanchez-Gomez (C’13). …And as you may recall from this DT, Penn folks love to create all sorts of dating sites.
There’s one more award left, the Student Choice Award, sponsored by First Round Capital. Voting is open to anyone with a Facebook account registered on a college network.

"Because of Penntertainment, I got scouted for Nickelodeon. I had such a great time talking with them. I may be a resource for a show on science, travel, geography, gender etc. Thanks for all you do. It really makes a difference." -Lisa Niver C’89
I am really impressed by this prestigious site.
