Alexa Fecca (C’16)
College 2016
Communications and Cinema Studies
Philadelphia, PA.
Alexa is heavily involved in the artistic community at Penn. Her list of activities includes: PennArts, Mask and Wig, Bloomers Band, and the Screening Scholarship Media Festival. Alexa is primarily interested in production management and project coordination roles for the future. Although she acknowledges that this type of administrative work may sound daunting, she firmly believes effective management is a critical support to the creative process. She is particularly inspired by women in media and entertainment, and has forged a special relationship with Gretta Baldwin, a Penn senior. Alexa loves having a point person who is a year older and moving in the same direction. Currently, Alexa is working on the foundational research for a thesis she will be writing about the experiential aspect of cinema.

For now, she is focusing on the decline of interest in silent movies, including one of her favorite movies City Lights by Charlie Chaplin. She loves Chaplin’s use of comedy and the way he marries slapstick with sentiment. Her favorite Penn traditions are Bacchanal and Fling because they give her an opportunity to share music with Penn community. Bacchanal is a spring event showcasing the arts community. During this event, Alexa and the Bloomers Band play an hour-long set for all of their friends in the performing arts community.

What People Are Saying

"Because of Penntertainment, I got scouted for Nickelodeon. I had such a great time talking with them. I may be a resource for a show on science, travel, geography, gender etc. Thanks for all you do. It really makes a difference."
