Development Assistant (Original Movies – Disney Channels Worldwide)Job Description:
Assist executives in the Original Movies Department, both in development and production. Keep office organized and running smoothly. Coordinate meetings, phones, read material. As Story Editor, interface with the readers to distribute material and collect coverage.Responsibilities:
• Maintain and coordinate calendars for multiple executives by scheduling meetings including, but not limited to: pitches, notes on projects in development, generals, etc. Reserve conference rooms for meetings when required.
• Maintain phone logs for all executives; keep track of all incoming calls at all times. Check voicemail.
• Maintain binders for each movie in production.
• Maintain department dub library and process dub requests.
• Prepare expense reports, track all payments, and reconcile all credit card bills.
• Weekly attendance at staff and development meetings.
• Develop familiarity with all projects in development & production including, but not limited to: loglines, storylines, and names of all people involved in each project.
• Read material and help compile notes.
• Compile notes on cuts of movies in post production.
• Organize office filing (digital and physical). Create folders and filing system for all executives.
• Order office supplies.
• Accurately log, prepare, and/or distribute all memos, letters, correspondence, email, messenger requests, etc.
• Order and log books from publishers.
• Prepare and finalize travel arrangements.
• Confirm writers’ delivery of material with Production Finance on all projects. Track writing steps paid and remaining.
• Story Editor duties: Track incoming and outgoing material. Distribute material to readers. Log and distribute coverage. Process reader invoices. When necessary, identify new readers and recommend for higher.
• Special Projects as needed/assigned.Basic Qualifications:
• Two years of overall working experience in either development, production, agency, or related experience
• Strong interest in Development, particularly Children’s Programming.
• Professional phone manner and ability to deal with various personalities in the workplace
• Highly organized with attention to detail. Ability to multi-task and work well under pressure.
• Strong writing skills
• Flexibility to work longer hours during busy production schedules – may include nights and weekends to prepare for the work week.
• Computer skills: Windows Office Suite (Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook e-mail), internet research.Preferred Qualifications:
• Final Draft and Adobe Acrobat Pro a plus.
• SAP experience a plus.
• Mac experience – Keynote presentation skillsPreferred Education
• Bachelor’s degree preferred, but not mandatory (English/Theater/Film preferred). -
