His new Muppets movie was the first film to ever do THIS

Today, Penn alum producer Todd Lieberman’s (C’95, Mask and Wig, AEPi) eagerly awaited sequel, Muppets Most Wanted hits theaters. (check out one of the first numbers -“the Sequel Song”- in its entirely from the film in the video above).

According to IMDB,

“This film takes the entire Muppets gang on a global tour, selling out grand theaters in some of Europe’s most exciting destinations, including Berlin, Madrid and London. But mayhem follows the Muppets overseas, as they find themselves unwittingly entangled in an international crime caper headed by Constantine-the World’s Number One Criminal and a dead ringer for Kermit-and his dastardly sidekick Dominic.”.

The has a star-studded cast including Ricky Gervais, Ty Burrell, Tina Fey, Christoph Waltz, Tom Hiddleston, Debby Ryan, Ray Liotta, Danny Trejo, Usher Raymond, Sean Combs...and some surprise guest stars!

Todd shared with us what it was like shooting the film in London:

“I’m thrilled to finally get Muppets Most Wanted out in theaters. It was a fantastic ride: Shooting in London was sensational…shooting inside the walls of the Tower of London (we were the first major film crew ever allowed inside the walls of the Tower of London to shoot)…shooting our stage work at Pinewood Studios where classic movies through the ages were shot, and bringing the Muppets back to their ‘home’ [“The Muppet Show” was shot in London] all was special. Filming the movie was an extraordinary amount of fun and I think it shows in the movie itself. It’s pure fun.”

Congrats Todd!  Now everyone go out this weekend and support our fellow Penn alum!

"Because of Penntertainment, I got scouted for Nickelodeon. I had such a great time talking with them. I may be a resource for a show on science, travel, geography, gender etc. Thanks for all you do. It really makes a difference."
