When Andrea Davis (C’92) was an undergrad at Penn, she was Music Director of the Penny Loafers. In continuing with her musical passion, over the past 10 years, she and her friends Robin and Christina have created a 1940s/1950s Andrew Sisters-esque harmonizing girl trio called the “The Swing Dolls” that tours the US. (they were even featured on the “Gilmore Girls” a few years back!).
After the jump, listen to the Swing Dolls perform an exclusive holiday clip just for Penn alumni readers of DT!
Here’s the skinny on the Swing Dolls:
“The Swing Dolls are a Los Angeles-based vocal trio who have entertained audiences nationwide. They specialize in performing songs from girl groups spanning pop music history, with a focus on the hits of the Forties and Fifties, made famous by such greats as The Andrews Sisters and The McGuire Sisters. Their full-length “Tribute to the USO” also includes Girl Groups of the 1960s and a Tribute to ABBA.
They have appeared in theatres, on radio and television, and at countless corporate and private events. Recent appearances include: with the Harry James Orchestra in Seattle, with the Pasadena Pops in Los Angeles, and at The Kennedy Center with the LAPD Concert Band. Among their tv credits, they were featured on the “Gilmore Girls” episode “We’ve Got Magic to Do. For more info: www.TheSwingDolls.com“.
