Caroline Marques (C’16) is a rising junior from Geneva, Switzerland, by way of São Paulo, Brazil. At Penn, Caroline studies both Cinema Studies and Political Science. She is a Blogger for The Daily Pennsylvanian’s Red and Blue and a Writer for 34th Street Mag. This summer Caroline is an Editorial Intern at Time Out Los Angeles.
Why Time Out Los Angeles?: I applied to TOLA as an aspiring writer and film student, eager to discover the city of LA. I’ve always been fascinated by the city and love that TOLA allows new-comers and well-seasoned Angelenos to discover all that’s up and coming. Growing up abroad, Time Out was always on my kitchen table, and working there seemed the perfect way to express my love of travel and writing, and simultaneously discover the film industry’s capital.
Take Us Through A Normal Day: Write, write, write! Research, communicate with PR, and fact-check events/venues before writing coverage on events happening all around LA.
What’s Your Favorite Part?: Definitely writing—developing a new style of writing, as well as learning about so many different places, cuisines, music styles etc. I love interning here, because each day is different, reflecting the variety and breadth that is TOLA and LA itself.
